What is affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketing according to Investopedia is an advertising model in which a company compensates third-party publishers to generate traffic or leads to the company’s products and services. The third-party publishers are affiliates, and the commission fee incentivizes them to find ways to promote the company.

This is a relatively simple business model for people to make use of as in simple terms they are sharing their affiliate marketing id within the content being shared online.

What is an online business?

The definition of an online business according to Sendpulse.com – An online business is a business conducted entirely on the internet. Online business may encompass selling goods and services

The difference.

The main difference between Affiliate Marketing and an online business while they are essentially very similar is that with affiliate marketing, you would be sharing your affiliate marketing ID and driving traffic to the websites of the companies you are representing.  Whereas with an online business, you are driving traffic to your website to sell any products and services you alone provide.

With affiliate marketing, any customer service would be mainly handled by the companies that you represent.  With an online business, you would be responsible for all the customer service.
