The 4 Most Important Steps to Solving Poor Goals

All businesses have goals and that is not any different with affiliate marketing.  Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or seasoned affiliate marketer, you should be setting goals.  Some just go at it without setting goals and then wonder why they are having such a hard time.  I know this because, I used to be like that.

Running your business without goals is like flying an airplane while being blind, you’ll eventually crash as you don’t know where you are going.  Fortunately, there are some steps that you can take to by pass this issue.

Here are some steps to take to avoid setting little or no goals:

1)- No Plan, No Work – If you don’t have a plan in place for your business, then you can’t work.  After all, if you don’t know where you are going, how can you expect to get there.  So, if you want to produce content, send out promotions, and do research, then you need to first start by creating a plan and set some goals.  Just like, if you don’t have gas in your car, how would you expect to get to work?  You wouldn’t.  Plans and goals are like the fuel you need to rev your engine to get moving as they are what drives you.

Having this method in place is a good way to ensure that you follow through and pan and set goals for your business.  No successful business can function without them.  If you are at the point where you need to set goals again, and you are following this kind of plan, don’t hesitate to long.  You can create your new goals while you are doing your work as you really don’t need to stop.  This was just a methodology on making sure you set new goals.

2)- Make sure your goals are timely, realistic and attainable – You don’t want to set goals that take to long and are way beyond your scope of being able to reach them.  Check out How To Set Goals For The New Year.  In this process you need to continually asses your progress and see if any goals need re-evaluated.  Even if you are sure that the goals you set seem sound, if they are not working for you then they need updated.  Don’t be afraid to test some goals.

3)- Write down your goals – This is more important than you think.  When you write down your goals, they become real and tangible instead of being in thought.  Put your goals somewhere that is visible to you while working like next to your computer.  By doing this, it’s a subtle reminder to keep working on your goals daily.  Write your goals with a tone of excitement that further motivates you to achieve them.  It’s also recommended to write your plans and goals with crayons, colored pencils or markers.  Some sources recommend this as by doing it this way, it activates portions of your brain to remember your goals.

4)- Set a timeline – By setting a timeline you create a sense of urgency in accomplishing your plans and goals.  Timelines help you visualize your progress so you know your progress.  Make your timeline realistic and attainable.
