Now and then, I see bloggers out there blogging just for their passion. These bloggers seem to blog just because of the love they have for their passion. There’s nothing wrong with it, but I feel it’s a missed opportunity. It is so extremely easy to monetize a blog. That with only a few changes, these bloggers could start making money with a little work.
My oldest son is one of these bloggers who is into music. All the time while he as posting about music, he could have also been making some bucks. He’s on Instagram and you can check him out at Smashtemple via Instagram. He didn’t do much writing, just sharing music. I will use him as an example in this case, there are many music related affiliate marketing programs available to pick and choose from to make money. One would just pick one that closely relates in some way to your passion.
Now if you are a blogger writing about your home-based business and you are interested in making money online from that business, that is a slightly different topic. Check out: How To Turn What You Love Doing Into A Business.
So, if you are one of these bloggers who blog just for your passion and would love to know more about monetizing your blog, see the tips below and get started today:

1)- Search online – search for an affiliate marketing program that fits your passion. Examples – using music – you would search for “music affiliate marketing program” and look for all that’s listed. It’s that simple. If you are a runner, there are affiliate marketing programs for runners too. Search for “runners affiliate marketing programs”. Choose which program interests you.
2)- Review your chosen affiliate marketing program – Review the program and make sure that it fits you and that their terms are to your liking. If you like the program, sign up for it. Not all programs are created equal. Most programs will immediately approve you. My advice is that if they don’t approve you right away, move on to the next program. Usually if they don’t approve you right away, they won’t until your metrics are high enough to their liking. These include traffic volume, conversions etc. It’s okay to have more than one affiliate marketing program.

3)- Display Banners – If your blogging platform allows you to display your company’s affiliate banner (if they have them), insert the code needed for either a sidebar, or other area for your banner. They come in different sizes. These banners include your affiliate marketing id which is crucial. This is called monetizing your website. If you find that your program doesn’t have banners, you can create your own widget display with an image that kind of resembles your product or program with your affiliate link.
Simple definition of affiliate marketing:
Affiliate marketing is a performance-based marketing business model in which a business rewards you for each visitor or customer brought by your own marketing efforts by sharing your affiliate marketing ID. Basically, you the affiliate would get paid for selling other company’s products and services.
4)- Know your affiliate program – Read up on your affiliate program, and know the ins and outs of it. This is important so you know what you can and can’t do. Plus. you want to know what you are talking about when you promote it.
5)- Affiliate Marketing Id – You can create posts promoting your specific affiliate marketing product or program.

6)- Blogging as normal – As you’ve been before becoming an affiliate marketer, blog as normal with your other content, fitting in posts about your affiliate product or program now and then.
7)- Promotions – Occasionally promote your affiliate marketing product via social media and if your affiliate marketing program allows for it, promote via your email list if you collect emails from your readers.
You’re Blogging now vs how it was.
In the past you’ve been blogging basically just for the fun of it sharing whatever you’ve been blogging about. Now, it’s a little different. You’ve created a business and if you are serious about it, you’ll want to drive traffic to our website to make conversions. You can research more about the product you are representing and see how to write more about it.

Social media.
If you haven’t yet signed up for any social media accounts regarding your blogging, now would be a good time to do that. You’ll want to “auto post” your content to social media to access a larger traffic volume. If you are using wordpress, the plugin Blog2Social is a good one to auto post your content to social media. Blog2social can be found in the wordpress repository.
A note about plagiarism.
Obviously, you want to make sure if you make use of anything in your research, to give credit to the authors.
When it comes to using images, you need to make sure what your affiliate marketing program guidelines say about that. If you need other images, I recommend using Pixabay.com for free images that you can use without worry.
